Purpose of the Job
The GL Accountant will be responsible for financial GL entries into the SAP ER System.

Role and Responsibilities
Performance Measurement

• Timing and efficiency of periodic and intermittent deliverables.
• Accuracy and clarity of the information being produced.
• The completeness of the information being produced.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure good coordination and transfer with shared service center on GL activities.
• Support annual reporting for the Board & Workers Council as per statutory requirement.
• Monitor and review the balance sheet on a monthly basis in line with the deadlines.
• Enters financial data and transactions into the ledger
• Reviews financial documents for accuracy and reconciling accounts
• Analyzes financial data and providing financial recommendations
• Prepares entries for various needs incl payroll & other provisions
• Ensures financial records comply with regulatory standards
• Generates financial reports
• Collaborating with other departments to complete accurate records and provide accounting support
• Supports the Auditor, Controller and other financial professionals in their duties as needed
• Supports the Business Development Team in the preparation of tenders within the corporate Finance Instructions (within limits defined per DOA).
• Ensures that the internal control manual is adhered through and communicated.
• Responsibility for the control and preparation for Internal and External Audits, ensuring that any internal or external audit findings are logged and actioned in line with promised deadlines.
• Ensure that Finance departmental work instructions are written, communicated and stored in an accessible place and are updated regularly to reflect continuous improvements.
• Provide back up to any of the processes within the finance department, except where segregation of duties do not allow.
• Preparation/validation of the VAT return
• Preparation and submission/validation on a monthly basis of Intrastat. Preparation and submission/validation of the Quarterly EC sales listing.

Educational Requirements

• Accounting Degree

Desired Knowledge / Experience

• Experienced in Financial Accounting, and Statutory Reporting.
• Selfmotivated with drive, resilience and enthusiasm.
• Good Organisation,
• Team player

Good IT skills

• Excel, powerpoint and word
