Our client is a fast growing company active in the
health sector.

As
Tax Manager you will be
responsible for:



  • Foreign presence risk mitigation:
  • Assess tax implication of new foreign opportunities pursued by our affiliates and mitigate the risk of unforeseen withholding tax on sales, permanent establishment (PE), etc;
  • Capable of decrypting double tax treaties for ad hoc countries to integrate the tax aspects in preliminary business cases constructed by the Biz Dev team (and validate with advisors later);
  • Assess the necessity/implication to create new foreign entities or PE acting as HUBs in foreign regions;
  • Keep an updated country by country documentation of business cases as they formalize to reuse in the future;

Tax base optimization:

  • Take into consideration Belgian and international tax incentives in order to reduce the effective tax rate (ETR);
  • Consider tax implication on ETR of new business models on existing or new geographic areas;
  • Identify tax gaps and suggest improvements to the management and business development teams;

Operational transfer pricing:

  • Implement and maintain transfer pricing policies (Support services recharge, intercompany loan, intercompany rentals,) ensuring arm's length principles;
  • Manage transfer pricing compliance reporting when time comes;

Tax ruling management

  • Asses the need (business case cost vs benefits) for a tax ruling to secure critical and strategic tax management decision/methodologies and defend to management;
  • Manage new tax rulings endtoend;

Compliance obligations:

  • Keep an eye on regulation changes and be informed;
  • Secure Corporate tax filing, VAT filings and other annual compliance filings with the support of the accounting team;

FP&A and M&A activities:

  • Coordinate/lead tax due diligence procedures, optimize acquisition and divestment structures and avoid/limit tax risks. Provide tax guidance with respect to internal reorganizations when occurring;
  • Responsible for the correct input of the tax positions in the accounts, in the budget, the forecasts and the 5Y10Y plan, their documentation and the reporting within the group;

Liaise with local external tax advisors for support in all the above:

  • Assess accurate budget needs in terms of external support;
  • Able clearly define missions' scope, objectives, and deliverables with external advisors to control deliverables and statement of work (and avoid non added value overspends);
  • Construct clear business case for ExCom for longer and more expensive missions (e.g. tax rulings).

The required
profile for the
Tax Manager position:


  • Genuine interest in international taxation and tax implication on business development;
  • Intention of being the tax architect of a growing group (from low complexity to high complexity);
  • University degree in Business engineering/economics with specialization in tax (alternatively a law degree with MBAtype specialization and strong finance and tax background);
  • 35 years of international tax experience in a global advisory company;
  • 35 years of experience as a tax lead/manager in an international group;
  • Autonomous with tax project management/lead and ability to prioritize operations;
  • Business mindset i.e. capability to link with various strategic functions in the group;
  • Strong knowledge in corporate finance and accounting;
  • Capability to build and maintain data models (or to learn to do so);
  • Fluent in English;
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
