We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer (Offshore Wind) for a position at Hoboken - a crucial role where you will be in charge of executing commissioning activities both on- and offshore while prioritizing safety.
As the Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing an inspection & test plan to guarantee the project's successful delivery, ensuring adherence to the contractual obligations between Equans and the customer.
Key responsibilities involve overseeing the implementation of the inspection & test plan during the project's execution phase. Throughout the commissioning process, your duties will include testing, commissioning, and ensuring the error-free delivery of electrotechnical control systems.
In this role, you will interact with suppliers, clients, subcontractors, and other internal departments.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Contract Compliance & Translation:
- Analyze employer requirements, technical specifications, project planning, and resource allocation. Familiarize yourself with the substation by studying the 3D-model and develop an action plan and detailed commissioning schedule for integration into the project plan. - Constructions:
- Support the Construction department by providing technical guidance/inspection criteria and conducting startup inspections to ensure efficient commissioning processes. - Engineering:
- Assist the Engineering department by offering technical insights for efficient commissioning activities. Review commissioning plans and relevant documentation. - Commissioning Preparation:
- Define commissioning schedules in collaboration with the Commissioning Manager. Ensure connections between construction and project milestones are established. Attend/co-manage pre-FAT/FAT, MC, and HAT activities, and oversee corrective actions for commissioning-related issues. - Mechanical Completion:
- Oversee mechanical completion and commissioning tasks for the installation. - Documentation and Reporting:
- Monitor and address HSE information shared by the team. Utilize workplace observation systems and Safety Observation Cards (SOC) across the team. Proactively notify the Project Manager of project risks and opportunities. Implement Fieldwire as the primary punch item tool. Report on weekly commissioning progress, transform data into measurable metrics for progress reports, and collaborate with the Project Manager and Project Planner. Ensure accuracy of progress reporting software outputs. Conduct work inspections, track progress via follow-up meetings, lead testing processes, inspire specialists for achieving standard results, and promote a motivating work environment with the Commissioning team.
Requirements:
- Education: Graduate, professional bachelor, or master with an electrical focus.
- Diverse experience in project and/or construction management.
- Significant industrial project experience, especially in QC, mechanical completion, and commissioning, with exposure to offshore environments.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge, particularly in electricity and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in mechanical constructions and supporting systems.
- Ability to maintain strong client-partner relationships while safeguarding Equans' interests.
- Detail-oriented, administratively adept, cost-conscious, decisive, and persistent.
- Ability to handle the specific aspects of the role: international gigs, offshore work, weekend shifts.
- Excellent communication skills in English & Dutch; knowledge of French and/or German is a plus.
