About The Role:


To develop, implement and manage a proficiency and competency audit and assessment program of Zespri or 3PL personnel to ensure compliance with the Zespri system (including Grade Standards), documented procedures, and Supplier Accountability Standards.


Manage the review and continuous improvement of the Supplier Accountability training requirements and work proactively to facilitate the identification and improvements implementation required in training material, processes, and systems arising from Proficiency and Competency assessments.


The role is based in Belgium (Zeebrugge). Travel is required for the role.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop an annual plan for management approval to assess and monitor proficiency and competency of Zespri (or 3PL as applicable) personnel, providing assurance to management and suppliers that fruit inspections are undertaken consistently and in accordance with approved procedures. Implement the plan following management approval.
  • Global travel will be required to support a global consistency assessment process, working with off shore staff, in markets and in Zespri Global Supply, to implement the Global Proficiency and Competency process.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of internal audits pertaining to the proficiency and competency assessments and Zespri System, ensuring they are conducted in a manner that is consistent with the best practice Internal Auditing.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in Zespri quality processes and contribute to review processes.
  • Identify additional internal resources as required; complete proficiency and competency assessment plan, manage, coordinate and supervise any assisting auditors to ensure audits are completed correctly and consistently.
  • Develop and agree the competency assessment scope of what is being assessed and findings with Managers and personnel being assessed (as applicable).
  • Complete written reports for all assessments, compiling summary reports as required.
  • Manage the follow up of findings system by obtaining feedback on progress from Managers. Report on the status of current and overdue items, including reporting to appropriate interested parties as applicable.
  • Follow up all corrective actions.
  • Report any critical issues to the Quality Competency & Proficiency Manager immediately.
  • Assist with other assessments/ audits as required
  • Implement and manage a continuous improvement process to enhance the review of training programs.
  • Determine additional and improved training requirements at an individual/ team level
  • Identify training needs by evaluating strengths and weaknesses
  • Translate requirements for training that will enhance personnel competencies and knowledge in the respective field
  • Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Lead Auditor / Quality certification or qualifications
  • At least three years quality systems auditing experience
  • Experience in quality system management and audit procedures
  • Understanding of Quality and Food Safety Standards and other fresh produce inspection/ export requirements
  • Experience in food or fresh fruit industry. Kiwifruit experience would be preferred.
  • Good communication and presentation skills / Able to train and influence
  • Valid drivers license
