Eurocities, the network of major European cities, is recruiting a forum coordinator to organise and deliver the Eurocities social affairs forum.

Responsibilities:


Eurocities has a dedicated
Social Affairs Forum (SAF) that brings together over 150 cities to work jointly to address major social challenges such as homelessness, poverty and social exclusion of vulnerable individuals, a lack of access into the labour market for vulnerable groups, or population ageing.

The Eurocities' SAF also supports exchanges of experience, know-how and transfer of innovative solutions among cities.

As forum coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating the services and activities of the SAF.

In addition, you will contribute to the organisation's policy, advocacy and project activities under the EU employment and social innovation (EaSI) project, covering different social inclusion challenges, such as education, social integration or innovation.


In this role, you will:
- _Coordinate Eurocities' SAF by:_

  • Organising the activities of social affairs forum (SAF)
  • Leading the organisation of the SAF annual conference and other mutual learning and capacity building activities for members
  • Collaborating with SAF Chair and Vicechair to implement forum's work programme
  • Facilitating internal coordination of members' engagement across the SAF, including effective communication with members using internal channels and communication tools
  • Proactively contributing to outreach to nonactive or potential members
  • Proactively contributing to and engaging with the SAF working structures, including members of the Steering Committee and Chairs and Vicechairs of SAF working groups
  • Keeping SAF members informed about the EU policy developments, and forum's activities, achievements and opportunities
  • Maintaining contacts with the EU institutions, and with other stakeholders
- _Contributing to our project and policy activities by:_

  • Ensuring the successful delivery of the EaSI grant on social inclusion
  • Preparing policy papers and statements
  • Providing policy support to Eurocities working groups on policy priorities that are set annually
  • Cooperating with colleagues in the SAF team to ensure synergies and crosscutting work
  • Maintaining an uptodate overview of policy developments and contributing with expertise and strategic insights to the policy work of Eurocities

Profile:

You are an experienced professional who is full of initiative, self-driven, curious, creative, flexible and results oriented.

  • The skills and experience to do this job successfully include *:_
  • At least five years of work experience which includes:
  • Professional experience in coordinating a group of stakeholders/partners
  • Relevant work experience in policy advocacy at the EU level and/or EU project implementation
  • Organising highlevel events and capacity building workshops
  • A Masters degree or equivalent in social policies, social sciences, urban development, EU studies or related fields
  • Thorough understanding of the EU institutions, decision making processes and funding instruments
  • Good knowledge of the EU policies and programmes related to social inclusion, employment, etc
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, including the ability to collect, analyse and present information in a clear and concise way
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills for an international environment
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
  • You are:_

€ € monthly gross salary, according to profile and experience
