POSITION DESCRIPTION
The mission
The Saint-Gobain Group is looking for a motivated and forward looking EU public affairs professional to reinforce its EU Brussels based team and the deployment of its public advocacy strategy.
The core areas of advocacy engagement, strongly linked to the EU Green Deal and Fit for 55 agenda, are all of strategic relevance for the Group, committed to "_make the world a better home_" (Group's purpose), to be a worldwide leader in lightweight and sustainable construction, and to be net zero carbon by 2050.
Within the Saint-Gobain Sustainable Business Development department, the EU Public Affairs Manager will report to the Head of Public Affairs; he/she will support the implementation of the Group's advocacy strategy at EU level.
His/her responsibilities include the following:
- Monitoring and analysing policy developments in the areas of EU climate and energy, energy efficiency, circularity, sustainable construction, industrial policy, sustainable finance & EU funding programmes (nonexhaustive list) to help identify opportunities and risks, and inform the company decisions;
- Analysing the stakeholders landscape and providing recommendations on positioning;
- Developing internal briefings in support of the advocacy and business strategy;
- Preparing and disseminating position papers;
- Contributing to the work of our trade associations and partner organisations in Brussels;
- Supporting the development of our institutional network (European Parliament, European Commission, Permanent Representations) and wider stakeholder network;
- Participating in relevant external meetings and representing the company;
- Providing support to the organisation of events;
- Engaging with our internal Public Advocacy Network and animating our internal engagement platforms;
- Contributing to our internal global training programme on advocacy and public affairs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Profile Required
- Educational background in political sciences, economy, law, public affairs or sustainability.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven relevant professional experience. Good knowledge of the EU decisionmaking process, EU policies impacting our business environment, and institutional stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills; ability to navigate complex issues at the crossroads of policy and technologies; ability communicate in a clear and convincing way; autonomy & problemsolving attitude; flexibility and initiative in a fastmoving work environment; ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders; good networking skills.
- High sense of ethics and collaboration. We conduct public affairs in respect of a solid set of rules incl. compliance, transparency, the Saint-Gobain Principles of Conduct and Action, and Saint-Gobain Attitudes.
- Languages: English and French. Any other language highly appreciated
