Policy and Advocacy Coordinator

Brussels-based position


For its Brussels office, the EU DisinfoLab is looking for a Policy and Advocacy Coordinator who can contribute to our work.

As an independent non-profit organisation, EU DisinfoLab gathers knowledge and expertise on disinformation in Europe.

Through putting together research, investigative work and policy acumen, EU DisinfoLab is an active member of, and supports, a passionate and vast community that helps to detect, tackle, and prevent information disorders endangering citizens' integrity, peaceful coexistence and democratic values.

About the position:

Policy & Advocacy:

  • Lead the organisation's advocacy actions and strategy;
  • Lead the definition of policies related to disinformation, working closely with our Research Team;
  • Advance the organisation's goals;
  • Monitor EU initiatives related to disinformation;
  • Work with civil society on EU disinformation policy, sharing political intelligence with civil society partners and planning future actions;
  • Lead our outreach to policymakers working on disinformation at the European Commission (DG CONNECT, DG JUST, EEAS), Council of the EU, and MEPs in the European Parliament (IMCO, JURI, LIBE, and INGE the Special Committee on Foreign Interference and Disinformation);
  • Participate in workshops and stakeholder discussions organised by the European Commission, European Parliament, and Council of the EU.

Community work:

  • Work with and activate our community across Europe and the world, in particular civil society;
  • Contribute to drafting our annual conference programme which is based on our knowledge of the work produced by our community (journalists, academics, civil society organisations, private companies, etc.);
  • Organise some webinars and webmeetings with and for our community;
  • Represent the organisation at external events and expand our network of partners.

Other:

  • Provide input for communications actions related to the advocacy strategy;
  • Support the communications staff when needed;
  • Contribute to editing / proofreading communications and documents published by our Research Team;
  • Support our Communications Manager by regularly providing her with policy and research content updates;
  • Support the team in other tasks when needed.

Your profile:

  • Based in Brussels or nearby, or willing to relocate to Brussels. The position requires to be in our office 3 days per week;
  • Educational background in political science, international relations, European studies, communications, or a related field;
  • At least three years' professional experience;
  • Excellent knowledge of internet governance and/or digital rights and/or disinformation;
  • Knowledge of GDPR is a plus;
  • You love working with people and reaching out to people outside the office;
  • Very good understanding of the functioning of the EU institutions is a plus;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills;
  • You are a curious person, with a cando attitude and able to work autonomously;
  • Native or near native English language skills is a plus. Additional European languages will be considered an asset;
  • Good organisation skills, with a good eye for detail and an ability to multitask, plan ahead, and keep track of tasks.

Our salary policy is based on experience, tasks, and our own current internal salary range. For this position, the annual salary range is € gross.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30 am-6 pm, with regular homeworking options.
