1. Team Overview
The role makes part of the Indirect Tax Centre of Excellence (ITX COE) and reports European Indirect Tax Manager.

2. Position Overview

Key responsibilities of the role include preparation, review, timely submission, settlement and reconciliation activities related to VAT reporting in Europe.


Job holder is responsible for:

  • Accurate preparation and timely filing of VAT compliance across Europe;
  • Monitor, assess and manage potential VAT risks and outstanding VAT across Europe;
  • Act as a trustworthy business partner to business/other stakeholders;

3. Key Responsibilities

A. VAT reporting

  • Accurate preparation and timely filing of VAT compliance across Europe i.a. VAT returns, European Sales Listings, Annual VAT returns, Intrastat returns, SAF-T, refund claims etc;
  • Contribute to team's tax technology transformation by identifying opportunities to incorporate technology solutions and execute on those opportunities

B. VAT issue and dispute resolution

  • Prepare and discuss with the manager replies to questions from tax authorities;
  • Prepare input to be shared at the occasion of VAT audits;
  • Be involved in reporting and control, advice, health checks and process management;
  • Monitor, assess and manage potential VAT risks and outstanding VAT across Europe;

C. VAT advisory

  • Provide assistance and advice on a wide variety of VAT questions/issues across Europe;
  • Provide support on correct VAT codes for postings;
  • Assist process teams on correct tax treatment/VAT coding;
  • Provide internal/external training in order to maintain a working knowledge of VAT;
  • Deploy process improvements and standardization initiatives;

D. VAT accounting

  • Perform timely and correctly balance sheet reconciliations, reconciliation between SAP VAT reports and SAP accounting reports, and perform the necessary accounting followup;

4. What you need to be successful

A

Educational/experience requirements:


  • Accounting/finance background
  • 4+ years experience with VAT reporting in a multinational and/or Big4 environment
  • Experience with VAT reporting technology tools
  • Experience with VAT accounting management (reconciliations)

  • Other European language will be beneficial
