Description of the role Mission

  • The mission of the Expansion Director is to develop, renew, and implement Carrefour Belgium's expansion strategy for its various Express, Market & Hyper stores.
  • With their team of experts, the director's mission is to identify market expansion opportunities and convert them into store openings according to set objectives.

Main objectives:

  • The Expansion Director reports to the Director of Express Operations of Carrefour Belgium (executive committee member) and is a member of the Carrefour Express Operations management committee.
  • STRATEGY & CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
    • Define and implement the strategy in alignment with the local strategy.
    • Establish processes to ensure the division's operation.
    • Develop and implement projects to create new activities.
    • Propose and monitor strategic KPIs.
    • Ensure understanding of Carrefour's strategy and ambition.
    • Prepare interventions to facilitate strategic decisions.
  • OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE & PERFORMANCE
    • Achieve Carrefour Belgium's expansion objectives.
    • Participate in the setup of expansion projects.
    • Manage relationships with key owners and negotiate major deals.
    • Translate operational vision into processes and tools.
    • Implement corrective actions.
    • Supervise the team in expansion research.
    • Encourage teams to take measured risks.
    • Manage the budget and optimize resources.
    • Propose improvements for the customer experience.
    • Optimize time to market and monitor opening files.
    • Strengthen the pipeline and free up time for expansion teams.
  • PARTNERSHIP
    • Ensure communication with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Be a leader and facilitator in consultation and coordination meetings.
  • LEADERSHIP
    • Be an active ambassador of Carrefour.
    • Develop team members' expertise and customer orientation.
    • Promote a feedback culture.
    • Set collective and individual goals.
    • Delegate tasks according to team skills.
    • Encourage diversity and value differences.

Profile Required profile skills:

  • Studies & Experience:
    - Master's degree with a specialization in Business Management and/or Real Estate.
    - Over 10 years in coordinating expansion, real estate, or commercial teams, ideally in retail.
