For our Sustainability Department in Dendermonde, we are looking for a _
_Sustainability Generalist._

What will you do for us as a Sustainability Generalist?


The Sustainability Generalist is responsible for integrating sustainability principles and practices across various organizational functions to drive environmental, social, and economic impact reduction.

This role involves analyzing current practices, setting up data gathering loops, identifying opportunities for improvement, and assist the Global Sustainability Officer on implementing sustainable initiatives to enhance overall organizational sustainability performance.

The Sustainability Generalist collaborates with cross-functional teams to execute sustainability strategies, monitor progress, and communicate outcomes internally and externally.

Key areas of accountability:

  • Assess current Practices: Conduct assessments of existing operational processes, policies, and procedures to identify areas for sustainability improvement based on market and compliance information.
  • Sustainability Strategies: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Implement sustainable Initiatives: Lead/ assist the implementation of sustainable initiatives, such as energy efficiency programs, waste reduction measures, new materials and sustainable sourcing practices.
  • Monitor progress: Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the progress of sustainability initiatives and track performance against targets.
  • Analyze data: Analyze and help setup gathering schemes for data related to energy consumption, waste generation, carbon emissions, and other sustainability metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote awareness of sustainability goals, garner support for initiatives, and foster collaboration.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with relevant sustainability regulations and standards, and prepare reports on sustainability performance for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Education and Training: Provide education and training to employees on sustainability principles, practices, and initiatives to foster a culture of sustainability within the organization.
  • Communication: Communicate sustainability efforts, progress, and achievements effectively to internal teams, management, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. This by means of awareness sessions, face to face discussions, internal sharepoint,

What will you bring to PSS?

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in sustainability, (environmental) science, business administration, or a related field.
  • Some experience in sustainability management, environmental stewardship, or corporate social responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Good analytical, and sufficient project management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence across all levels of an organization.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards (e.g. CSRD (and ESRS),GRI, CDP, SASB) and relevant environmental regulations and certifications (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO45001, ISO50001,SA8000) is bonus.
  • Commitment to sustainability and passion for driving positive environmental and social impact.
