The Global Support Office (GSO) tax team of the Ahold Delhaize group is based in Zaandam and Brussels. We are looking for a VAT Specialist to strengthen our tax team in Brussels.

You will report directly to the Director Indirect Tax Europe and support the Manager VAT BELUX.


Your role will involve a mix of VAT compliance activities, national/international VAT advisory, management of internal and external stakeholders, and monitoring and improving VAT processes and controls.

The area you will primarily cover is Belgium and Luxembourg, but this may be expanded in the future.

The scope of responsibilities for the VAT Specialist we are looking for is exceptionally diverse and challenging.

You will provide support in:

  • VAT compliance handling monthly and annual VAT returns, registering new entities and/or permanent establishments, calculating and preparing VAT payments, verifying VAT rates and VAT accounts.
  • VAT advisory addressing queries from the business and the broader GSO tax team regarding real estate, restructurings, new legislation, etc. You will also assist in (EU) projects.
  • Stakeholder management managing the relationship with the BELUX VAT authorities, including VAT audits and CTCP, representing Delhaize towards external stakeholders (such as COMEOS, VBO), providing training and close collaboration with various departments within Ahold Delhaize.
  • Analyzing Belgian and EU legal developments related to indirect taxes and translating them into implications for Delhaize, implementing measures to ensure compliance.

Votre profil:

  • You have a bachelor's or master's degree (preferably in Accounting or a related field, with a specialization in tax, law, or economics with a basic knowledge of accounting).
  • You have 23 years of relevant experience as a tax accountant, tax analyst, or tax consultant.
  • You are pragmatic and can translate legal developments into practical solutions for the business.
  • Knowledge of SAP and IFRS tax accounting, as well as an interest in data analysis, is a plus.
  • You possess excellent communication and presentation skills, along with strong analytical abilities.
  • You describe yourself as a team player with initiative, capable of working proactively and independently. You always go the extra mile.
  • Additionally, you are eager to learn, adaptable, and thrive in a demanding environment.
  • You are ambitious and have a wide range of opportunities, as this position offers many career possibilities.
  • You are fluent in one of the two official languages (Dutch or French) and English.
