The purpose of the role

As an Alternative Protein Technologist, you will create and develop winning new products in the field of alternative proteins (AP), such as vegetarian or vegan meat or fish mimics, and maintain the existing AP product portfolio aligned with customer requirements by defining and delivering technical solutions for business projects.

You will lead or participate in the delivery of scientific aspects of projects that deliver the growth and profitability of the European business for specific global, strategic or targeted customers.

You will develop ongoing relationships with strategic and targeted customers by providing a technical point of contact for customers' technical functions (usually together with sales or your manager).

Responsibilities:

• Build product designs for Alternative Proteins (AP), including performance standards.
• Generate scientific insights that deliver growth and competitive advantage for the European (AP) business.
• Create broadly applicable functional toolkits in the field of AP.
• Maintain and improve the existing AP product portfolio aligned with customer requirements and regulations.
• Define/deliver technical solutions for business projects.
• Develop ongoing relationships with strategic or targeted external partners, customers or suppliers by being their technical point of contact.
• Communicate on the findings and outcomes via presentations, trainings, technical reports.
• Work to deadlines and ensure that briefs are effectively met within stated timelines.

Requirements:

• Scientific Bachelor or Master, preferably in the field of food chemistry or physics, preferably with expertise in alternative protein ingredient functionality or processing.
• Minimum 35 years of appropriate postgraduate development experience.
• Relevant industrial experience.
• Experience in the field of alternative proteins.
• Computer Skills: Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
• Creativity skills.
• Commercial awareness.
• Good time management.
• Good degree of selfmotivation.
• Good communication skills.
• Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Dutch is desirable. Proficiency in additional languages would be an asset.
