Organizational Setting:
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) leads international efforts to defeat hunger and achieve food security for all. The FAO Liaison Office with the European Union and Belgium strengthens FAO's visibility and advocacy with key partners.
The position is located in Brussels, Belgium.
Reporting Lines:
The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the Director of the FAO Liaison Office and under the direct supervision of the Liaison Officer.
Technical Focus:
Ensure the achievement of the Liaison Office's objectives with efficient coordination and support to activities related to the Organization's mandate.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Supporting liaison tasks with European Institutions;
- Supporting liaison tasks with Belgium (Federal and Regional entities) as well as Belgium-based non-state actors;
- Supporting liaison tasks with the Organisation of Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific States;
- Supporting liaison tasks with other FAO Member Representations, private sector, civil society, and academia;
- Supporting meetings and events organized by the Office;
- Contributing to the LOB's monthly newsletter and social media posts;
- Performing other related office duties as required.
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
Minimum Requirements:
- University degree in social or political sciences, international relations, public relations, or related field;
- Working knowledge in English and one of the other official languages of the Organization;
- Belgian national or resident with a valid work permit.

Technical/Functional Skills:
- Work experience in more than one location or area;
- Relevant experience with EU institutions and/or UN agencies;

- Strong understanding of communication skills;
- Technical and analytical ability in summarizing reports;
- Minimum 6 months relevant experience in liaison work.
Selection Criteria:
- Advanced University degree in relevant field would be an asset.
