The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was founded in 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to help tackle climate change by fostering the development of a low-carbon society at the national, European and global level.
We support over 1000 partner organisations to carry out activities that contribute to the public debate on climate action, drive urgent and ambitious policy in support of the objectives of the Paris Agreement and help deliver a socially responsible transition to a net-zero emissions economy and sustainable society in Europe and around the world.

About the role
As Cybersecurity Manager you are responsible for cybersecurity related projects and activities within ECF, and for ECF partners (grantees). You drive the analysis and definition of systems and process changes to increase cybersecurity levels. You lead the awareness building and behaviour change required for increasing cybersecurity levels.
You analyse and protect against the risks and impact of cybersecurity breaches on ECF IT infrastructure, systems, and data.
You work closely with ECF's legal team, and other business stakeholders, on topics related to data privacy and risk management.
You will be reporting to ECF Information Technology Director.Key responsibilities
Working closely with ECF business stakeholders (HR, Finance, Grants Management, Programs, Management team, etc.)
, with the IT team, and with external service providers, you will be responsible of:
Implementing Cybersecurity Strategy
- Develop and lead the implementation of ECF cybersecurity strategy, in alignment with the wider ECF Strategy
- Be the focal point for all cybersecurity related matters
- Create and/or update cybersecurity policies, related processes, user guides, etc.
- Continuously build awareness about cybersecurity related risks and threads
- Plan and implement actions to drive change in user behaviour: training, induction, communication campaigns, etc.
- Ensure that cybersecurity related activities are considered by all relevant stakeholders
- Perform risk analysis and steer mitigation actions planning
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity related technology and tools
- Participate in the design/selection, the implementation/configuration, the testing, and the improvement of the digital systems to guarantee that security by design principles are followed.
Cybersecurity monitoring & operations
- Monitor IT operations, systems, and Infrastructure from cybersecurity perspective
- Manage external cybersecurity experts and service providers
- Monitor cybersecurity policies and regulations compliance
- Continuously review ECF staff working practices and propose corrective actions and improvements
- Coordinate annual security audit exercise, and other adhoc actions (penetration testing, simulation, exercises, etc.)
- Work with ECF key stakeholders to adapt business continuity plans and crisis response preparedness
- Map cybersecurity incidents, build lessons learned, and crisis response plan
Supporting Digital Security capacity building for ECF partners (grantees)
- Analyse, plan, and implement relevant cybersecurity activities for our partners (grantees) in various regions
- CEE & SEE, EU, as well as adhoc in other countries EMEA & Latin America)
- Identify cybersecurity partners to deliver audits, training, and other digital security focused activities for ECF grantees
- Coordinate related activities between ECF programs and grantees.
Requirements:
Experience and competencies
- University degree in technical and/or business administration field
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, in cybersecurity related roles
- Experience in ISO27001 implementation and/or using EBIOS/ENISA framework is an advantage
- Capacity to balance security and business requirements and engage with various stakeholders for problem resolution
- Experience in delivery cybersecurity in international, remote and hybrid work settings, is an asset
- Understanding of Agile principles and strong team player
- Good active listening and communication skills
- Written and verbal communications in English, another European language is an asset
- Passionate about climate action with a genuine interest in the mission and values of the ECF
