The EMEA Legal & Compliance department is led by our General Counsel/VP Legal Affairs, providing expert advice on contract law, GDPR, and compliance to our 5 Business Units and Support Departments.

Job Summary

As a legal counsel, you will offer legal and compliance advice and services to our in-house clients, maintaining alignment with our policies and guidelines. You will handle day-to-day legal matters of moderate complexity independently, seeking guidance from senior lawyers when necessary. Understanding our organization's needs is key, and you may also coordinate activities and mentor other legal staff. This role reports to Peter Van den Eynde, Lead Lawyer in the EMEA legal affairs team.

Job Responsibilities
  • Business Partnering: Drive negotiations with global pharma companies and suppliers to our Haasrode plant, known for its excellence. Be proactive in identifying issues, proposing solutions, and collaborating effectively.
  • Geographic Scope: Contribute significantly to the growing EMEA Legal & Compliance Team, impacting business matters across EMEA & APAC regions.
  • Collaboration: Work efficiently within a matrix organization, engage with stakeholders, and lead Legal & Compliance projects innovatively.
  • Compliance Champion: Uphold integrity, implement compliance policies, and promote a culture of compliance across EMEA.
Candidate Profile

If you have a keen legal mind, strong communication skills, and a minimum of 5 years of legal practice experience (in-house or law firm), this role might be for you. Expertise in commercial contracts is essential, with additional knowledge in Pharma/Medtech industry and areas like M&A, R&D, IP/IT, and data protection as a bonus. Flexibility, adaptability, strong interpersonal and language skills, along with a tech-savvy approach are desired.
