Purpose of the position


Guaranteeing the quality, user-friendliness, and performance of the ICT systems and in this way playing a reference role at ICT to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the requirements of the business and the predefined standards within a predetermined schedule.

Profile

Level:
bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent through experience.

Experience:
at least 3 years of experience with software testing or equivalent through proven experience and/or expertise, preferably in a Mainframe/CICS environment and in the insurance sector (non-life processes)

Technical skills

  • Knowledge of and experience with Software Testing methodologies (V-Model, iterative or Agile...)
  • Experience with at least 1 testing tool, e.g. Zephyr, HP Quality Center (ALM)
  • Experience with software testing in an Agile and DevOps environment with associated tools
  • Experience using JIRA

Main responsibilities

  • Test design
Define a test approach based on the business requirements, the functional analysis, and the test plan.

Designing test cases, test scenarios and collecting and developing the necessary test data with the aim of converting the test strategy and test plan into a concrete approach to check the quality and user-friendliness of ICT systems delivered by colleagues from or by an external party.

Take the necessary steps to set up the various test environments.

Example of activities:

  • Interpreting the Master Test Plan
  • Determine test approach based on test plan in collaboration with the test coordinator so that the desired test coverage is guaranteed
  • Perform a quality review of the business requirements and the functional analysis
  • Validate the acceptance criteria
  • Drawing up the test requirements for new systems and/or existing complex systems
  • Setting up test environments.
  • Collect and develop test data

2. Test execution


Perform the tests (integration tests and system tests and IT acceptance tests) according to the proposed plans and test scenarios.

Checking the test results and analyzing deviating results with the aim of implementing the test approach and thus checking the quality and user-friendliness of ICT systems that are delivered by colleagues from or by an external party.


Example of activities:

  • Carrying out test activities according to the proposed test scenarios
  • Check the test results for accuracy and reliability
  • Analyze and reproduce abnormal results
  • Study log files and interpret the results
  • Register and document defects
  • Explain the defects to the developers
  • Make proposals to optimize the technical and/or functional requirements

3. Test reporting


Setting up the test reporting tool; reporting test results in the appropriate tool to provide the necessary information to the developers and improve the quality of the delivered system.

Good reporting is the basis of a high-quality delivery and a clear risk analysis when the system goes into production.


Example of activities:

  • Setting up the necessary testing tools (e.g. JIRA );
  • Ensure the necessary reporting.
  • Provide insight into anomalies, risks and issues for the project
  • Support during acceptance testing and implementation phase of a project


Providing support to the business in the context of acceptance testing (UAT Testing); providing test support during the implementation phase of projects in order to ensure that the implementation of projects proceeds according to plan and to proactively detect and/or resolve any problems in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate with end users on the testing approach.
  • Supporting end users in creating their test cases.
  • Detect the needs of users in a timely manner and take action accordingly.
  • Analyzing problems during the implementation phase of a project.
  • Collaboration
Ensuring efficient collaboration and coordination with the other members of the project team or scrum team (solution analysts, analyst developers, other test professionals, etc.)

Sharing specific knowledge and expertise to solve more complex issues. Evolving towards an 'agile' way of working to increase the agility of the IT organization.
