What will the Job entail?
As a Senior Advisor Risk Control & Engineering, your main role will be to visit client sites to evaluate risks associated with their Property insurance, provide guidance on Property Risk Management, and compile survey reports that will inform property brokers in approaching the insurance market.
This position focuses on systematically identifying, assessing, and minimizing various risk factors (such as fire, natural hazards, liability, etc.) to decrease the likelihood of organizational losses and enhance the overall risk cost-effectiveness.
You will also be responsible for:
- Conducting on-site risk control surveys
- Developing risk control management programs for preventing incidents and enhancing facilities or operations
- Creating client loss estimates on a site-specific and portfolio basis to support insurance program designs
- Reviewing new facility risk control projects and offering relevant advice
- Identifying hazards and conducting risk assessments at client locations
- Investigating incidents involving client losses
- Delivering training on hazard awareness and loss prevention
- Preparing insurance underwriting reports and site plans
- Evaluating and addressing recommendations from insurance companies
- Performing other assigned duties
The insights gathered will be utilized to advise brokers, insurance underwriters, and clients. Communication with suppliers and public entities regarding the overall Property insurance risk mitigation strategy is also expected.
The Risk Control Engineer will carry out property safety audits to assess potential risks and edit underwriting reports. The reports will guide brokers in exploring the insurance market. Moreover, recommendations for loss prevention and mitigation will be provided.
You will provide clients with detailed advice on constructing new buildings compliant with insurance prerequisites, including precise specifications for fire protection installations like sprinkler systems.
Risk Survey Reports will predominantly be written in English, while recommendation reports will be in English, Dutch, and French.
While your main work base will be in Belgium, occasional international surveys are also part of the role.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, chemical, electrical, industrial, or petroleum engineering)
- Experience in the global insurance/broker market and property insurance consulting
- Proficiency in professional English, Dutch, and French
- Team player with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent analytical abilities
- Organizational skills, accuracy, and a proactive approach are vital within our international setup
- Keen interest in Risk and Prevention, particularly in property matters
