As a Senior PostgreSQL DBA, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our PostgreSQL databases. Your expertise in Perl is essential for this role. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure database performance, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage PostgreSQL databases to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Perform database tuning, optimization, and regular maintenance tasks such as backups, indexing, and partitioning.
  • Develop and maintain scripts in Perl for automation and database management tasks.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide support for database-related incidents and service requests.
  • Mentor and guide junior DBAs and developers on best practices and advanced database techniques.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production environment.
  • Proficient in Perl scripting.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/PGSQL.
  • Familiarity with Python and Ansible is highly desirable.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Understanding of database security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Familiarity with other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Oracle).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience with database migration and upgrade projects.
