As a GL Accountant, you are responsible for general ledger activities within defined scopes of accounting. This includes planning daily, monthly, and yearly tasks, self-organization, performing internal controls, and reporting. Your tasks can involve payroll, asset management, closing tasks, tax reporting, and supporting the tax team as needed. You may also participate in small projects related to design, testing, and implementation.

key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

Coordinate daily operations, including recording accounting entries and preparing for monthly, quarterly, and yearly closings Handle month-end closings, including reconciliations and account tracking Prepare journal entries, make corrections and adjustments, and communicate results Manage IFRS 16 accounting, payroll closing tasks, and accounting for several entities Perform analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness during reconciliations and explain key trends Prepare accurate and timely account reconciliations and perform balance sheet variance analysis Document procedures and work performed Identify discrepancies and make recommendations Contribute to large-scale projects and manage small-scale project needs, testing, implementation, and monitoring Continuously improve and apply new G/L processes Implement and maintain internal controls and collaborate with finance and business teams for information sharing
qualifications Technical knowledge in BEGAAP & IFRS (including IFRS 16) Accuracy and attention to detail Deadline-oriented Strong communication skills with internal and external customers BEGAAP and basic IFRS knowledge SAP FI/CO and SAP4HANA Advanced Excel skills Proficiency in French and/or Dutch, and English 4-5 years in a GL accounting department Experience with ERP system implementation/upgrades and IT-related projects is a plus
