We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our client for an industrial construction project in Lommel. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for various aspects of financial management, including bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in accounting within the construction industry.
Location: Lommel Type: Full-time consultancy assignment Open to: Employees and freelancers Start date: ASAP Duration: Approximately 2 years Homeworking: Possible in consultation after an extended onboarding periodkey responsibilities Financial data entry and bookkeeping: Assist in the maintenance of financial records, including general ledger entries, journal entries, and reconciliations, using accounting software and spreadsheets. Prepare and process invoices, expense reports, purchase orders, and other financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner. Accounts payable and receivable: Assist in accounts payable functions, including verifying and processing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, and issuing payments. Support accounts receivable functions, including invoicing clients, monitoring receivables, and following up on outstanding payments. Financial reporting and analysis: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses to support management decision-making and regulatory compliance. Perform variance analysis, budget tracking, and financial forecasting to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Compliance and audit support: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations, including Belgian GAAP and applicable tax laws. Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as needed. Administrative support: Provide general administrative support to the accounting and finance team, including filing, data entry, and correspondence. Assist with special projects and ad hoc assignments as assigned by management.
qualifications Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Languages: Fluency in English and Dutch (French is a plus). At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in a construction or related industry. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP). Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately process and analyze financial data. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
