For a company in the Ghent region, we are looking for a Global Trade Management Compliance - Process Architect. You can complete this assignment as an employee of Randstad Professionals - Life Sciences Flanders as a consultant (with a white-collar contract) or as a freelancer.
EMEA Center of Excellence – your new colleagues
The EMEA Center of Excellence is responsible for imports, exports and transits for goods arriving to and departing from the Swedish factories in Gothenburg, Olofström and our consolidation centers in Gothenburg, Gent, Czech Republic, Spain, Great Britain. We are a part of the Global Process Excellence Team with colleagues in Belgium, China and the United States.
Our team is in the middle of a journey aiming at taking the next steps in development,so you will therefore have a great opportunity to be part of forming and setting efficient and standardized processes, focusing on securing excellent service towards our stakeholders. As part of our strategy, we aim to transform the way we work to facilitate the efficient movement of goods across borders through streamlined customs clearance processes. As a member of our innovative, "best in class" team you will work to simplify import and export clearance routines to ensure prompt product delivery while controlling cost, maximizing the use of special trade programs and adhering to regulatory requirements.
The team is utilizing multiple customs procedures and regimes in the course of our business. You will therefore be working with Outward Processing Relief, End-Use, Suspensions, Quotas and Inward Processing Relief etc.
key responsibilities
You are the driver of process improve activities in the Center of Excellence Team, focusing on activities that will enable working processes that supports the Global Customs strategy. You will use your creativity and collaboration skills defining, developing and implementing the standards for our way of working.
Some of your main tasks:
Overall process improvement to standardize, improve and create an effective way of working globallyEvaluate existing processes using interviews, workshops, document analysis, surveys, user scenarios, process maps, task and workflow analysis with the purpose of improving the outcomeUtilize value stream mapping techniques to review processes, eliminate waste and improve effectivenessPerform root cause analysis and drive changes that are necessary for continuous improvementCollaborate internally, with digital and other relevant stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and document ROI for pertinent initiativesAct as mentor or coach to business stakeholders by providing training and guidance on redesigned, optimized and streamlined processesAnalyze data, identify trends and identify process anomalies as candidates for improvementSecure that all processes are written, communicated and adhered to consistentlyWork independently using your expertise and experience based on the plan set for the team and for yourself together with your manager.Support operational customs contact with responses and providing documents towards national (customs) authoritiesSupport management of operational KPI's on country level and apply corrective and preventive measuresInvestigate and/or escalate potential savings and duty optimizationsqualifications Experience and Educational Requirements You have substantial work experience (6 to 10 years) in customs and trade and fully understand trade flows, documentary, and data requirementsYou have a post-secondary education with focus in logistics, engineering or computer science. This may also include local customs certificationsYou have familiarity or experience with Value Stream Mapping (VSM) principles and can apply them to your area of workYou have a moderate understanding of the regulatory trade concepts relating to moving goods across international borders (Tariff Classification, Valuation, Country of Origin, Free Trade Agreements, Special Procedures and Trade Programs)You are self-driven and can perform assigned task with low supervision while understanding that you are part of a collaborative team that comes together for the efficient management of trade flows.To be successful in this role, you must be results driven, collaborative, build trust and value self-development to gain the expertise necessary to deliver on strategic objectives.Experience identifying and creating the processes necessary to get work done.Experience designing processes and procedures that allow managing from a distance and seeking ways to improve processes, from small tweaks to complete reengineering.Thinks and talks in global terms by understanding the position of the organization, within a global context and knows the impact of global trends on the organization. We are looking for a colleague who is not afraid to challenge status quo and is motivated by change. Your ability to "see the bigger picture" and take proactive measures are highly appreciated. To be successful in this role, we believe that you have previous experience from customs related tasks and a solid understanding of the customs declarations process. You have proven experience in process development, stakeholder management and change management. As a person you are someone with an analytical mindset, you demonstrate ownership and courage in complex situations, you are action orientated and you have great communication skills, you are not afraid of being challenged. Furthermore, you foster an environment of teamwork, collaboration, and trust.
