The Scientist will collaborate with the Advanced Material Characterization and Investigations (AMCI) group within AD. AMCI is an international and diverse multidisciplinary team of scientists leading advanced characterization and mechanistical understanding of our drug substances and drug products and also leading analytical investigations for commercial and R&D portfolio.
Within AMCI, the Advanced Molecular Analysis (AMA) team is a group of analytical centers of excellence in structure elucidation (by high-resolution Mass Spectrometry and NMR), trace organic analysis, excipient & polymer characterization, and oligonucleotide & peptide analytics.
We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Analytical Chemist, specialized in mass spectrometry collaborate with the AMA team and contribute to our ongoing efforts in, mainly, MS-based structure elucidation. For this laboratory-based position, you will work on the identification efforts for process synthesis impurities and degradation products to support our R&D portfolio. The position is based in Antwerp (Beerse), Belgium.
key responsibilities
Provide high-quality Mass Spectrometric support for a variety of synthetic molecule products (also including peptides, oligonucleotides, etc.) in the portfolio.Participate in supporting diverse investigations on the J&J development and commercial portfolio using cutting-edge high-resolution mass spectrometers and other analytical equipment.Work independently with a high level of productivity to solve challenging analytical problems, including the ability to juggle competing priorities.Present data and reports on project status at individual, group, and departmental meetings.Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with all applicable environmental, health, regulatory requirements, GMP and safety regulations.qualifications A PhD in (Analytical) chemistry, biochemistry or related field, OR a master's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with 3 years of relevant experience is required. Practical experience with High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry is required.Experience with Mass Spectrometry-based structure elucidation of small molecules is desirable.Expertise in Gas Chromatography – mass spectrometry and/or knowledge of extractable & leachable testing is an asset.Hands-on experience in troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment is considered an advantage.You can work on-site in Beerse.
