-You have a graduate level education in laboratory sciences (lab technician, medical imaging,…) ;
-You are willing to learn new techniques and work with ionizing radiation;
-You have in-depth knowledge of cancer cell culture and the development of in vivo cancer models;
-FELASA B certificate with experience in preclinical imaging using radiopharmaceuticals is a plus, or you are willing to get this certificate as soon as possible;
-An in-depth knowledge of preclinical radiopharmaceutical imaging and therapy is a plus;
-You have experience with in vitro biological assays (e.g. clonogenic assay, SDS-page);
-You possess organisational skills and have a cooperative attitude in an academic team;
-You are active, proactive and can work in flexible circumstances pending workload.
A good command of spoken English is desired in the multinational research setting.
The administrative language at KU Leuven is Dutch, knowledge of Dutch or willingness to learn it is an advantage.
- Full support for image acquisition (including instrument quality control and data management) to researchers at KU Leuven and external industry users;
- Management of PET-SPECT-CT imaging infrastructure;
- Cell culture support for a range of cell lines;
- In vitro biological assays using diagnostic and therapeutic radioligands;
- In vivo model development;
The “Molecular Imaging Research and Clinic Leuven” (MIRACLE) is a collaboration between the Laboratory for Radiopharmaceutical Research and Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging at KU Leuven that aims to develop, validate, and apply molecular imaging tools (PET/SPECT) for early and differential diagnosis, prognosis, therapy monitoring, understanding pathophysiological mechanisms and performing proof-of-concept studies in drug development. For preclinical studies, state-of-the-art multimodal (hybrid) imaging equipment (microPET-CT and microSPECT-CT) is available along with full facilities for handling radionuclide therapy in the preclinical setting.To support preclinical research and provide support for users of this PET/SPECT/CT infrastructure as well as the development and testing of novel theranostic agents, the consortium seeks a laboratory technologist with ideally knowledge of radiotracer-based image acquisition, preclinical laboratory management and a demonstrated ability to support in vitro cell culture, in vitro biological assays and in vivo model development.We are offering full-time employment in a research group with challenging goals and plans. You will work in Leuven, a historic, dynamic, and lively city located in the heart of Belgium, within 20 minutes from Brussels. You will be managed by permanent staff from Laboratory Radiopharmacy (Prof F.Cleeren) and Nuclear Medicine (Dr C. Cawthorne). The position will start for 2 years but can be prolonged open-term in a fee-for-service operational model.
If you can take up all responsibilities from the start, you will be appointed in Grade 5.
