To support our continued growth, Nobi is seeking a Financial Controller to strengthen our finance team and ensure robust financial management and reporting. In this hands-on role, you will oversee accounting operations, contribute to financial planning, and play a key role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. As we scale up, we need someone with a strong accounting background, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to guide and support both internal and external financial stakeholders.
Nobi is headquartered in Belgium and has legal entities in the US and the UK as well. We have our own manufacturing site near Antwerp, and manage warehouses in the US and the UK as well. We are looking at expanding manufacturing to keep up with the increase in turnover.
Finance at Nobi
In this growth phase, swift and correct monitoring of financials is critical. Working capital management, investment decisions, margin analysis... these all require the attention of a finance professional.
The finance team currently consists of a CFO, a financial controller and an internal accountant - all based at Nobi HQ in Antwerp. They run the overall financial operations across 3 legal entities (Belgium, US and UK), supported by external accountants in each geography for local compliance. Odoo is used company wide as our ERP.
The financial controller role covers a variety of tasks - from supervising monthly closing over business analysis to building business cases for strategic decisions. This role requires close collaboration with the CFO, as well as regular interaction with various departments to ensure effective budget monitoring, reporting discussions, and seamless follow-up on financial matters.Count on getting involved in operations and projects across all departments and geographies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial control and reporting
- Manage monthly and annual closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee and guide external accountants in Belgium, the UK and the US.
- Inventory management: together with the logistics manager, follow up inventory levels and correctness - across the different legal entities.
- Margin analysis: review profit margins on different products, markets and sectors.
Audit and compliance
- Lead audit preparations and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards and regulations - together with the external accountant.
Budgeting and forecasting
- Develop and monitor budgets, providing insights on discrepancies.
- Support strategic decision-making through financial modeling and forecasts.
Operational finance
- Review and improve internal controls, ensuring scalable and efficient financial processes across the organization.
- Coordinate with departments to manage financial risks and ensure fiscal discipline.
- Become the finance expert user in Odoo - working together with other department expert users to improve Odoo setup and processes.
Stakeholder collaboration
- Act as a financial advisor to leadership, offering data-driven insights to support growth initiatives.
- Liaise with internal and external bookkeepers, ensuring alignment with company objectives and reporting standards.
Ad hoc projects
- Supporting strategic and operational decision making through project support e.g. the building the business cases for different scenario's with respect to the expansion of Nobi's manufacturing capacity.
You for Nobi
Background
- 5+ years of experience in financial control, accounting, or audit, preferably with exposure to scale-up and/or manufacturing environments.
- Strong accounting background, ideally with experience in audit processes.
Skills
- Proven expertise in monthly and annual closings, as well as financial reporting.
- Proficient in accounting software and financial management tools.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
Mindset
- Hands-on approach with a proactive attitude to identify and resolve challenges.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, external accountants, and stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in the tech or healthcare sectors.
- Familiarity with international accounting practices, production controlling or multi-country operations.
