Senior Specialist Manufacturing Automation – Job Description

Location: Heist-op-den-Berg, Belgium. Organon’s manufacturing site produces and packages impactful medicines for a healthier life, employing more than 900 people and shipping over 160million packages annually.

Responsibilities

  • Lead automation projects from conception to delivery, managing planning, execution and monitoring to meet objectives.
  • Ensure accurate validation of process management activities, guaranteeing compliance with current pharmaceutical standards and regulations.
  • Implement and optimize process and manufacturing automation technologies that enhance automation within production environments.
  • Configure and program automated systems to improve process control and efficiency.
  • Manage the full validation and implementation cycle of automation projects according to industry standards.
  • Oversee the management and integrity of software backups of automated systems.
  • Provide technical support to production areas and the maintenance department, enhancing operational performance and resolving technical issues.
  • Collaborate with the external support team to optimise process automation, transfer knowledge of new or changed systems/platforms, deliver level‑3 support and provide outside‑office‑hours flexibility.

Required Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • 8years (minimum 6) of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical, food or chemical environment.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and creative thinking capabilities.
  • Strong project leadership and functional team‑management skills.
  • Effective communicator, able to inform and engage peers and stakeholders.
  • Quick learner, adaptable and self‑aware, capable of decision‑making in dynamic environments.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, written and oral.

Technical Skills Required

  • Siemens TIA Portal, Step7 and PCS7.
  • Office365.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

  • Engineering‑related degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical standards and regulations (strongly preferred).
  • Experience with AVEVA WonderWare.
  • Experience with AVEVA PI Data Historian.
