Function

We're looking for an experienced AI Architect to join our client's team and help shape the future of enterprise AI. In this role, you'll define and maintain a coherent architecture for generative AI, machine learning, and agentic AI solutions, ensuring that emerging technologies are integrated into the broader IT landscape in a secure, scalable, and sustainable way. You'll combine strategic thinking with hands‑on architectural guidance to turn innovative AI concepts into robust, production‑ready solutions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and maintain target architectures for generative AI, machine learning, and agentic AI within complex enterprise environments.
  • Establish reusable reference architectures and architectural patterns for on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid deployments, taking into account data sensitivity, integration requirements, security, and operational needs.
  • Develop architectural principles and guardrails covering AI gateways, Model Context Protocol (MCP), retrieval mechanisms, model access, AI agents, identity management, logging, observability, and lifecycle management.
  • Advise delivery teams and technology architects on architectural decisions, technical trade‑offs, and the transition from experimentation and proof of concept to production.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and proactively identify deviations, technical debt, dependencies, and potential risks.
  • Collaborate with security, data, and other architecture stakeholders to incorporate privacy, least‑privilege access, data minimization, isolation, and traceability into solution designs.
  • Identify opportunities to create reusable platform components and integration building blocks in collaboration with platform and AI enablement teams.
  • Monitor emerging AI technologies and translate relevant developments into practical recommendations, architectural options, and informed decision‑making.

Your Profile

We're looking for a forward‑thinking architecture professional who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to translate complex requirements into pragmatic, well‑structured solutions.

Your experience and technical skills include:

  • Proven experience in solution architecture or IT architecture within enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of API architecture, event‑driven architectures, and integration patterns.
  • A solid understanding of AI and large language model (LLM) platform architectures, including retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), model serving, AI agents, evaluation, and observability.
  • The ability to translate regulatory, security, and privacy requirements into actionable architectural principles and technical guardrails.
  • Experience with architectural decision records (ADRs), reference architectures, non‑functional requirements, and technology lifecycle management.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, combined with an innovative mindset and a genuine interest in emerging AI technologies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • The ability to structure and visualize architectural concepts, facilitate multidisciplinary discussions, and guide stakeholders towards well‑founded decisions.
  • A results‑oriented approach, with a strong focus on deadlines, quality, and tangible outcomes.
  • Familiarity with public sector environments or specific government cloud and social security institutions is considered an asset.

Practical Information

  • Location: Brussels, with the possibility of working partly from home.
  • Languages: Active knowledge of Dutch and French, and passive knowledge of English.

Are you ready to help shape a secure, scalable, and future‑proof AI landscape? If you enjoy combining architectural vision with practical innovation, we'd love to hear from you
