We are working with a leading insurance group to appoint a Chief Financial Officer for its Belgian operations. This is a Board-level appointment at the centre of the business. You'll be the primary point of contact for Belgian regulators and external auditors, sit on the Finance Leadership Team and the Board and lead a team of two while helping shape the direction of the wider Finance function. This role will report to the local CEO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set standards and approval governance for local statutory and regulatory financial reporting, including annual reports, regulatory returns, and tax filings
- Act as the primary finance representative to Belgian regulators on inspections, reviews, and supervisory matters
- Govern the external audit relationship, driving predictable execution and reducing repeat findings
- Present legal-entity performance to the local CEO and Board, and fulfil Director-level statutory and fiduciary duties, including CFO responsibility for local regulated entities
- Support the CEO on strategic opportunities, M&A evaluation, and capital/liquidity management
- Partner with Group Consolidation, Reporting, and Financial Control teams on regional and global initiatives
What We're Looking For:
- 10+ years in a financial role, with strong insurance experience
- Qualified Accountant, with a degree in Accounting or Finance
- Direct experience with Belgian regulators and deep knowledge of Belgium GAAP
- Previous Key Function Holder (KFH) experience preferred - this is a senior appointment, not a first‑time progression opportunity
- Proven leadership of finance/accounting teams within matrix structures
- Fluent English and French or Dutch strongly preferred
