Medical Teams Coordinator (m/f/x) – Brussels – MSF Belgium
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian aid organization that provides assistance in more than 70 countries to populations in distress, to victims of natural or manmade disasters and to victims of armed conflicts, without discrimination and irrespective of origin, religion, creed or political affiliation.
The medical department of MSF Belgium (OCB - Operational Centre Brussels) plays a strategic role in defining how MSF’s medical strategy is implemented, ensuring coherence and quality across programmes. It provides strategic support throughout the project cycle, as well as normative guidance and technical support for project implementation and follow‑up. The medical department promotes knowledge transfer across the medical workforce and stimulates research and innovation by critically reviewing current medical practices and exploring new approaches.
The department brings together specialists working across a network of units worldwide (Belgium, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Luxembourg, and South Africa). It works in close collaboration with operations, other OCB departments and the wider MSF movement, and also provides support in some disciplines to Ubuntu and MSF WACA projects. To strengthen multidisciplinary and interdepartmental work, the department is organised into “thematic circles” that address ongoing priorities or specific time-bound themes. Current circle thematics include migration health, nutrition, outbreak control, survivors of violence, etc. Most medical referents also participate in International Medical Platforms at the MSF movement level.
As Medical Teams Coordinator, you line‑manage a group of approximately 10 medical referents and lead and coordinate several thematic circles and cross‑cutting areas of work. You lead the Primary Health Care topic and the Information and Knowledge Management portfolio. You report directly to the Medical Director and work in close collaboration with the Deputy Medical Directors and the Unit Coordinators.
