About Us

Where Innovation Meets Excellence

Agoya is a data and AI agency with a mission: to help clients activate their data and remain relevant in the future. We achieve this through long-term partnerships with our clients where we look to co-create as much as possible towards a shared vision in the future.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team at Agoya HQ in Belgium. As part of Agoya, you will work on diverse and challenging data and AI projects for clients across different industries.

You will collaborate with our Data Engineers, AI Engineers, analysts, and data scientists to solve meaningful challenges and take reliable data solutions from design to production. You will have the opportunity to continuously learn and explore new technologies.

Beyond project delivery, you will help shape how we work by turning emerging data and AI practices into reusable standards and self-service capabilities across Agoya. This hybrid, hands-on role offers meaningful ownership and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Your Responsibilities

  • Build and operate batch and streaming pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and orchestration.
  • Design data models for analytics and ML use cases, with appropriate partitioning, clustering, and lifecycle management.
  • Implement data quality, observability, alerting, and SLOs for critical pipelines and services.
  • Manage orchestration, dependencies, retries, backfills, and SLAs using tools such as Airflow, Cloud Composer, or Dagster.
  • Build cloud infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines for safe, repeatable deployments.
  • Deploy and operate containerized workloads on GCP or Azure while maintaining clear development, staging, and production environments.
  • Apply least-privilege security, secure networking, and sound secrets management.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud, warehouse storage, and compute costs.
  • Translate business needs into reliable data products and create reusable patterns that help teams work independently.
  • Review code, document designs, share knowledge, and communicate trade-offs clearly across clients and domains.

Are you the one?

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or a related combination.
  • Strong SQL and production-grade Python skills, including testing, packaging, and code review.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, ideally GCP and BigQuery, plus services such as Dataflow, Composer, Dataproc, Cloud Run, or GKE.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform, and with Docker, CI/CD, and Git-based collaboration.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, orchestration, data quality, observability, and operational reliability.
  • Proven ownership across design, build, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Clear, proactive communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Pragmatic engineering judgment that balances quality, speed, cost, and complexity.
  • English is required, plus Dutch or French.

Nice to have

  • Experience with dbt, Dagster, Airflow, Kubernetes, or modern data platform tooling.
  • Knowledge of governance, lineage, metadata, data contracts, lakehouse patterns, semantic layers, or domain-oriented data products.
  • Experience with ML/AI infrastructure, model serving, LLM gateways, or self-hosted LLMs.
  • Azure or regulated-environment experience, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2.
  • An agentic engineering mindset: turning repeatable work into reliable, tool-using workflows with appropriate guardrails and human oversight.
  • Hybrid work, depending on client needs, with in-person collaboration for the moments that matter.
  • A competitive salary package, including meal vouchers, premium hospitalisation insurance, and your choice of a company car or mobility budget.
  • International exposure through diverse client projects across industries and teams.
  • Continuous learning via internal Agoya Academy sessions and knowledge sharing.
  • International team buildings and activities, with colleagues across Belgium, Morocco, and Greece.
  • Real ownership: help shape Agoya's growth, build lasting ways of working, and leave your footprint on how we deliver GenAI at scale.
