Consultant – MES & Digital Transformation
you will bridge the world of operations, automation, and manufacturing IT. You will work closely with clients to understand their processes and help design and deploy MES-based solutions that create real value on the shop floor.
Responsibilities
- Analyse manufacturing processes and operational workflows, identifying improvement opportunities supported by MES functionality.
- Work with production, quality, engineering and IT teams to understand requirements and translate them into MES concepts (tracking & tracing, work instructions, quality controls, OEE, scheduling, etc.).
- Design MES solutions: functional specifications, process mapping, data flows, integration points with automation and ERP.
- Support MES implementation projects with multidisciplinary AG SOLUTION teams: configuration, functional testing, validation, and deployment.
- Facilitate workshops to align stakeholders, collect needs, and explain MES capabilities in a clear and approachable way.
- Guide clients on digital transformation roadmaps, helping them understand the steps, the impact on people & processes, and the value created.
- Train and support end‑users to ensure the successful adoption of new digital tools on the shop floor.
- Monitor KPIs (quality, throughput, efficiency, downtime, compliance…) to demonstrate impact and refine solutions.
Qualifications and Essential Skills
- Experience with MES platforms (Siemens Opcenter, Werum PAS-X, Rockwell FTPC, Ignition, Aveva, or similar).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, ideally in sectors such as pharma, food, chemicals, consumer goods, or discrete manufacturing.
- Ability to read and understand data flows between MES, automation (PLC/SCADA), and higher-level systems (ERP, LIMS).
- A solid functional and technical mindset: able to understand both the business needs and the underlying system behavior.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills — able to translate technical MES concepts into practical language for operators, engineers, and managers.
- Enthusiasm for digital transformation, continuous improvement, and supporting people through change.
Nice to have
- Experience in MES implementation projects (configuration, functional design, testing, or commissioning).
- Understanding of industrial IT/OT principles (networks, databases, security basics).
- Familiarity with automation environments or PLC/SCADA— a plus, but not required.
- Experience facilitating workshops, managing deliverables, or working with cross‑functional teams.
- Fluent in English; and Dutch or French.
