On behalf of a leading insurance organisation, we are looking for an experienced actuary to join a team responsible for actuarial oversight, model validation and solvency-related matters.
You will provide independent expertise on key topics including technical provisions, calculation assumptions, data quality, underwriting and reinsurance policies, as well as risk assessment.
Key responsibilities
Technical provisions oversight
- Perform independent reviews of technical provisions under both statutory and economic reporting frameworks.
- Challenge the methodologies, models and assumptions used in actuarial calculations.
- Assess the reliability, consistency and appropriateness of the underlying data.
- Work closely with control functions, external auditors and, where required, supervisory authorities.
Underwriting and reinsurance reviews
- Assess whether pricing practices adequately reflect the underlying risks, covers and contractual options.
- Review the consistency of underwriting and reinsurance policies with the company’s risk profile and risk appetite.
- Formulate practical recommendations to strengthen risk selection and management.
Risk and solvency activities
- Contribute to ORSA exercises and related actuarial work.
- Support risk modelling, monitoring and assessment activities.
- Provide actuarial input to regulatory, strategic and transformation projects.
Model validation and economic capital
- Ensure that the Group’s internal model is appropriately tailored to local business characteristics.
- Coordinate and monitor internal model validation activities.
- Contribute to the evolution of risk modelling approaches and economic capital calculations.
- Help maintain a robust governance framework in line with regulatory requirements.
Your profile
- Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in actuarial, risk management, model validation or a comparable role.
- Strong knowledge of the Solvency II regulatory framework.
- Experience in Life and/or Health insurance would be a valuable asset.
- Sound understanding of reserving techniques and actuarial modelling.
- Good knowledge of risk management and economic capital concepts.
- Familiarity with Python or R, IBNR methodologies and/or Dynamic Financial Analysis would be an advantage.
You combine strong analytical skills with sound judgement and excellent communication abilities. You are comfortable translating complex actuarial matters for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and enjoy working in a collaborative, high-quality environment.
