Are you passionate about electrochemistry, materials science, and turning innovative ideas into working technologies? We are looking for a Development Engineer specializing in Gas Diffusion Electrodes (GDE) to contribute to the development and experimental validation of advanced electrochemical devices and processes.

In this hands-on R&D role, you will work from concept development through laboratory-scale demonstration, designing, fabricating, and testing electrodes, catalyst layers, membranes, and electrochemical cell architectures. Through systematic experimentation and data-driven analysis, you will investigate performance, selectivity, stability, and transport limitations, translating your findings into meaningful improvements in device performance and process design.

Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will help advance electrochemical technologies from experimental investigation toward practical application.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and experimentally validate electrochemical devices and processes, from concept to lab-scale demonstration.
  • Design, fabricate, and test gas diffusion electrodes, catalyst layers, membranes, and electrochemical cell architectures.
  • Plan and execute structured experiments to investigate performance, selectivity, stability, and mass-transport limitations.
  • Perform electrochemical and physicochemical characterization to understand material properties and device behavior.
  • Analyze experimental data, identify performance-limiting mechanisms, and translate findings into actionable technical improvements.
  • Document results and communicate technical conclusions through reports, presentations, and collaboration with cross-functional R&D teams.

Your profile

  • A strong background in electrochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with electrochemical cells, electrodes, membranes, and/or gas diffusion electrode systems.
  • Experience designing experiments and conducting electrochemical and physicochemical characterization.
  • Strong analytical and scientific problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect experimental measurements to underlying mechanisms.
  • A structured, practical, and results-oriented approach to experimental development.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
