YOUR TASKS

• You will assist in the practice-based teaching at the department (i.e. organization, counselling and assessment of practical exercises and seminars), specifically the following courses “Capita Selecta van het Internationale Recht van de Mensenrechten, Theory and Practice of the European Convention on Human Rights, and Human Rights: Multi-Disciplinary Perspectives.”.

You give guidance to master theses in the field of Human rights.

You contribute to the service of the department.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• You hold a degree of Master in Law or an equal degree . For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
• You are involved in other professional activities and/or you have demonstrable experience that may contribute to the quality of the practice-based teaching, specifically practical experience in the domain of international human rights law, such as an attorney, NGO worker or volunteer or experience in a comparable initiative.
• You have thorough knowledge, and preferably practical experience, in the field of international human rights law.
• Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended.
• A specialized diploma in international human rights law is recommended.
• You have excellent oral and written knowledge of Dutch and English.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

• We offer you a one year appointment of 10%. This appointment may be renewed indefinitely every year. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University.
• Your appointment will start on 1 November 2026 at the earliest.
