For one of Europe’s fastest-growing advanced manufacturing groups, we are looking for a C/C++ Software Engineer to join its high-tech imaging business in Leuven, Belgium.

The company is a global leader in high-performance infrared cameras, sensors and imaging solutions manufacturing used in industrial, scientific, security and advanced technology applications worldwide.

Every camera shipped is supported by proprietary software: a Windows-based GUI that enables customers to control and evaluate the camera, and a cross-platform SDK that allows customers and integration partners to embed the camera into their own systems and applications.

As part of a small, experienced software team, you will take ownership of this core software environment. You will help modernise and professionalise a well-established codebase, improve its architecture, reliability and test coverage, and make it easier for other developers to integrate the company’s camera technology into real-world applications.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and improve camera control software and SDKs, primarily in C and C++
  • Contribute to the evolution of the company’s Windows GUI and its SDK for Windows and Linux
  • Design robust, maintainable software architectures and developer-facing interfaces
  • Improve software quality through unit testing, regression testing, CI/CD and disciplined version control
  • Work on camera communication, image acquisition, recording and viewing functionality
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, application and R&D colleagues to ensure reliable end-to-end product integration
  • Help customers and integration partners use the software effectively through well-designed workflows, APIs, examples and documentation
  • Contribute to future developments around Linux, ARM edge devices, image-processing algorithms and AI inference where relevant

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in software development and the ability to work independently
  • Strong hands-on experience with modern C++ and C
  • Experience developing native software for both Windows and Linux
  • Proven ability to work with existing or legacy codebases and improve them in a structured, pragmatic way
  • Strong understanding of clean software architecture, testing, build processes and code quality
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD and regression testing
  • Comfortable working in a hardware-near technical environment, for example involving industrial equipment, sensors, measurement systems, robotics, imaging or scientific products

Nice to have but not required

  • Experience developing SDKs, libraries or APIs used by other software developers
  • Experience with imaging, computer vision, cameras, sensors or image acquisition
  • Knowledge of Python
  • Experience with Linux ARM or edge devices
  • Exposure to AI inference frameworks such as CUDA, TensorRT or similar
  • The opportunity to join one of Europe’s fastest-growing high-tech manufacturing groups and actively contribute to its international growth journey
  • A hands-on software role at the intersection of advanced hardware, imaging and real-world customer applications
  • High ownership and visible impact within a small, experienced and collaborative R&D team
  • The opportunity to modernise and shape core product software used with high-performance infrared camera systems worldwide
  • An international, technically ambitious working environment with short decision paths

Please note: This is not a web development, database or pure GUI role. The core focus is robust, cross-platform C/C++ product software that enables professional customers to use and integrate advanced camera technology.
