Overview

GIZ International Services (InS) is the project-focused unit of GIZ that provides services to international clients such as the European Commission, EIB and other donors. InS supports the German Federal Government in bilateral development cooperation and delivers results-oriented services on the international market through InS, drawing on extensive expertise and experience. The InS Brussels office prepares and implements large projects financed by diverse donors, focusing on global facilities and global impact. Main sectors of intervention include climate change, energy, sustainable finance and economic development.

Position

Internship opportunity in Brussels with InS. The role offers exposure to international development issues and the chance to contribute to project acquisition, implementation, monitoring and communication activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the acquisition process for international tenders (administrative tasks, research, partner identification, etc.).
  • Prepare background papers, presentations, and concept notes.
  • Assist in project implementation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Maintain databases, partner contacts, and project documentation.
  • Support knowledge management and communication tasks.
  • Assist with administrative and logistical tasks related to InS operations in Brussels.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or master’s program in international relations, political science, economics, development studies, business administration, or related fields
  • Political sensitivity and good understanding of development policy issues and the objectives of German development cooperation
  • High interest in international cooperation and development
  • Basic knowledge of monitoring and evaluation in development cooperation
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • German and/or French fluency is considered a strong asset
  • Good knowledge of common MS Office programs; good working knowledge of MS Lists and MS SharePoint is an advantage
  • Flexible and detail oriented
  • Proactive and team player mindset able to work under pressure
  • Sound conceptual skills with analytical and innovative thinking
  • Experience in AI platforms use is considered an asset

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a student or graduated not longer than six months ago from the start of your internship.
  • Candidates must hold a Belgian work permit; for non-EU nationals, the permit must be uploaded when applying. GIZ will neither cover costs nor apply for work permits for internships.

Compensation & Terms

We pay a monthly stipend of €1,350 (gross). Please note that the contract will be concluded under Belgian law.
