This is the firewall estate itself, run centrally: installation, central management, policy, patching and the daily discipline of a queue with real response times against it. You would join a small security team in Mons as its firewall specialist.
It is a good job for someone who likes the platform side of security — where the answer to a repetitive task is a script, and where a rule change is documented before it is made.
What you would be doing
- Build, install and configure next-generation firewalls, and bring them under central management with the right template and device group settings.
- Configure high availability, time and name resolution settings, and keep software and threat signatures current through the maintenance windows.
- Implement, verify and adapt firewall rulesets and policies as requirements change.
- Work the ticket queue to the agreed response times — four hours for normal events, one hour for high and critical — across phone, mail and chat.
- Keep logging and log forwarding correct so events reach the central database.
- Write and maintain standard operating procedures and security documentation, and automate the recurring administration.
- Troubleshoot with the network and platform teams, and support users on secure cross-domain exchange.
What you would bring
- Solid experience as a firewall administrator on next-generation platforms.
- Good networking knowledge and familiarity with cyber security tooling.
- Scripting for automation of routine administration.
- The temperament for pro-active maintenance — the work is measured in what did not break.
- Professional English, spoken and written.
The work is fully on site in Mons, and delivery is planned in one-week sprints.
