Communications Manager (Region I - Brussels)

FIA RegionIrepresentsmobility clubs across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, advocating for affordable,safeand sustainable mobility. As part of its ongoing strategic evolution, FIA Region I is strengthening its communications function. The Communications Manager will lead this function – combining strategic communications, editorial leadership, mediarelationsand digital campaigns – to ensure theorganisation’spriorities are communicated clearly and consistently to Member Clubs, policymakers,mediaand partners.

Role purpose

Reportingto the DG, the Communications ManagerdevelopsanddeliversFIARegionI’scommunicationsactivitiesandadviseson messaging andinstitutionalpositioning. Therolecombinesstrategicthinkingwithhands-ondelivery,translatingcomplexmobilityandpolicyissuesintoclear,crediblecommunications. Itdoesnotinvolveline management but carriesfunctionalresponsibilityfor the communications portfolio.

MISSIONSAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement an annual communications strategy aligned with FIA Region I’s priorities, advisingthe DG on messaging,positioningand opportunities to increase visibility and influence among policymakers, MemberClubsand media.
  • Lead editorial planning and content production across all channels –website, newsletters, speeches, talking points, institutionalreportsand thought-leadership pieces – translating complex policy issues into clear, engaging messages.
  • StrengthenengagementwithMemberClubs andinstitutionalstakeholders,coordinatecommunicationsaroundkeypolicydevelopmentsandevents, and support the DG inpreparingfor public interventions.
  • Develop andmaintainmedia relationships, prepare press releases and statements, coordinate media enquiries, andadvisethe DG on the communications implications of sensitive or reputational issues.
  • Manage and grow FIA Region I’s digital channels (website, newsletters, social media), oversee campaign development with Member Clubs and external partners, andmonitordigital performance to improve effectiveness.
  • Lead communications planning for major FIARegion Imeetings and events, from invitations and announcements to speaking materials and post-event follow-up.
  • Act as the principal working-level contact with the FIA Communications Department, ensuring consistent use of tools, templates,brandingand messaging across Region I.
  • Monitor and report on the reach,engagementand effectiveness of communications activities, using data and feedback to continuously improve performance.

PROFILE:

  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in communications, publicaffairsor a related field, ideally in an international, policy-oriented environment.
  • Proventrack recordadvisingsenior leadership and producing high-quality content for varied audiences and channels.
  • ExcellentwrittenandspokenEnglish,withstrongmedia relations and stakeholder-managementskills.
  • Experience in EU affairs, mobility,transportor advocacy is an advantage.
  • Strategic yet hands-on, autonomous,proactiveand comfortable in an international, politically sensitive environment.
