What you will do
You will join the Data Office, the cornerstone of all data-related activities within this public-sector organisation. Working in a multi-disciplinary agile team alongside data engineers, reporting experts, project managers, data architects, data quality experts and AI specialists, you will:
- Lead discussions with different subject matter experts from the business to understand their data-related needs
- Identify, assess and understand business processes, operational and analytics data flows (incoming and outgoing)
- Translate business needs into data and technical requirements
- Design and validate data models in collaboration with data architects
- Establish the functional design for developments in full collaboration with the data governance team, BI technical leads and ICT teams
- Be in contact with the data protection officer to ensure GDPR and security compliance
- Ensure the testing of the data products developed
- Inform, train and encourage adoption of business users
What we are looking for
- Master degree in Computer Science or equivalent through experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in data functional analysis
- Concrete experience in data warehouse modelling (Kimball approach)
- Concrete experience in designing and analysing data flows
- Minimum 3 years of concrete experience with MS on-premise stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, Power BI)
- Prior experience as data engineer is a plus
- Experience of Azure Databricks is a plus
- Excellent communication skills (speaking, reading, writing)
- Mastering both national languages professionally (French and Dutch: B2+ minimum)
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong conceptual and business understanding
- Strong data literacy
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Can-do attitude with strong sense of ownership and autonomy
- Strong problem-solving, pragmatic approach and delivery focus
- Team player, perseverant, stress resistant and flexible
- Like to learn and open-minded
The setting
This assignment runs from 26 October 2026 to 31 December 2026. The role is hybrid, with a minimum of two days per week on-site in Brussels. Teleworking must be within Belgian borders. The working environment offers flexible working hours within the 70-hour week (7.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. with fixed slots between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.), workspaces organised according to activities, easy accessibility via public transport, and a company restaurant.
