Creative Frontend Engineer

Craft the interfaces people use to explore live video, recordings, and AI results, from our design system to data-rich visualisations.

Video operations software asks a lot of an interface: live streams, long timelines, spatial data, AI results, workflow configuration, and moments that need an immediate response. As a Creative Frontend Engineer, you will make those complex systems feel clear and direct.

You will work across our React and Angular applications and shared design language. This role suits an engineer with strong visual judgement who cares equally about interaction detail, accessibility, maintainable code, and real-world performance.

Your impact

What you will work on

  • Design and build responsive interfaces for live monitoring, recordings, analytics, and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Turn dense event and media data into clear timelines, visualisations, controls, and progressive disclosures.
  • Contribute reusable patterns to our design system while keeping product-specific experiences focused.
  • Prototype and refine motion, canvas, or WebGL interactions when they improve understanding rather than decoration.
  • Work closely with product, design, and backend engineers from problem framing through release and iteration.

About you

  • You write confident TypeScript and have production experience with React, Angular, or a comparable component framework.
  • You can translate a product problem into a thoughtful interaction, not only implement a finished mock‑up.
  • You care about component boundaries, state design, testing, and performance in data‑rich applications.
  • You communicate through prototypes and code and welcome direct, constructive critique.

You do not need to match every point. If the work sounds like a strong fit, tell us what you would bring and where you want to grow.

Useful additions

Helpful experience

  • Data visualisation, timelines, maps, or spatial interfaces
  • Video players, streaming media, or frame‑accurate controls
  • Design systems, Storybook, visual testing, or design tokens
  • Frontend performance profiling and accessibility audits

How we work

Skills differ by role. These are the behaviours we expect from everyone building UUG.AI.

  • 01

    Strong communication

Share context, decisions, and concerns clearly. Ask questions early, listen carefully, and adapt the message to the people involved.

  • 02

    Disciplined and honest

Do what you say, work with care, and be direct about uncertainty or mistakes. We value evidence and transparency over appearances.

  • 03

    Team player and owner

Help the team succeed while taking responsibility for the outcome. Collaborate openly, follow through, and leave the work better than you found it.

A clear start

What to expect in your first months

The exact pace depends on the role and your experience. We use these steps to align on support, ownership, and useful outcomes.

  • 01

    Learn the workflows

Use the products, follow how operators investigate video events, and understand the constraints behind the current UI.

  • 02

    Improve a real interaction

Take a focused workflow from prototype through review, implementation, accessibility checks, and release.

  • 03

    Raise the product baseline

Own larger interface areas and help the team make consistent decisions about patterns, performance, and quality.

How we hire

A practical conversation, both ways.

We want you to understand the work, the team, and our expectations before making a decision.

  • 02

    Intro conversation

Discuss what you are looking for and get context on UUG.AI and the role.

  • 03

    Practical deep dive

Complete a focused take‑home exercise, then present and discuss your approach with the team in person at our Ghent office.

  • 04

    Team and expectations

Meet future colleagues and align on scope, ways of working, and next steps.
