Position Summary
The Graphic/Print Technical Expert (packaging) is responsible for the technical processing, optimisation and quality control of graphic line work and print production files. The role combines deep graphic expertise with a coordinating and support function within the Studio. The objective is to ensure a technically correct, efficient and reproducible production process while providing a high and consistent level of service to clients and internal stakeholders.
Technical Graphic Processing
Artwork & Line Work Processing
- Process supplied line work through scanning, digital drawing, vectorisation and correction.
- Correct technical file errors including inaccurate lines, contour issues and incorrect vector structures.
- Prepare artwork according to print production requirements and machine specifications.
Quality Control & Procedures
- Ensure compliance with SGX quality procedures.
- Identify and proactively report structural errors and deviations.
- Contribute to the improvement and updating of quality guidelines and internal workflows.
Print Technical Support
- Provide print technical support from the start of new projects.
- Advise on technical feasibility, material selection and process optimisation.
- Act as the technical reference point for complex or non-standard productions.
Planning & Coordination
- Maintain an efficient and achievable production schedule together with the Team Leader.
- Take on a coordinating role in the absence of the Team Leader.
- Coordinate and monitor order planning according to capacity, deadlines and technical complexity.
- Support task allocation across operators and monitor job progress.
- Contribute to balanced workload distribution within the Studio.
Client & Sales Support
- Support the sales team with new clients, procedures and technical enquiries.
- Participate in client meetings and visits when required.
- Communicate technical possibilities and limitations to clients and internal teams.
- Continuously seek improvements that strengthen client relationships and service levels.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Collect, maintain and update internal studio specifications.
- Create technical documentation and guidelines when required.
- Promote knowledge sharing and effective communication within the Studio.
- Analyse existing workflows and identify improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to process standardisation, optimisation and innovation.
- Keep up to date with new technologies, software and print production developments.
Complaints & Interventions
- Handle external complaints in collaboration with Team Leaders, Quality Control and Sales.
- Conduct root cause analysis and propose corrective actions.
- Provide technical support and interventions at customer sites when required.
- Represent SGX as a technical expert in external environments.
Flexibility & Collaboration
- Promote cross-functional collaboration across the Studio.
- Be willing to support other functions such as CSR, QC or Colour Management during periods of absence or high workload.
- Actively contribute ideas for process improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic and Digital Media or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, ArtPro+, PackZ or similar prepress software.
- Knowledge of flexographic printing and colour management is an advantage.
- Experience in packaging prepress is highly desirable.
