Infrastructure Capacity Planning (ICP) is responsible for the determination of Fluxys Belgium’s gas transport capacity at global and local level, both for natural gas and new gases, and the carrying out of network development studies. The department is amongst others responsible for the yearly release of Fluxys Belgium’s Ten-year Network Development Plan (TYNDP).

ForInfrastructure Capacity Planning, we’re looking for aTransport Study Engineer(m/f/x).

Job purpose

You develop and simulate long-term supply, demand, and transit scenarios up to 2050 to assess the transport capacity of the CH4, H2 and CO₂ network. You activelyparticipatein ENTSOG capacity-related working groups and engage in discussions with European transmission system operators to ensure cross-border alignment.

Your responsibilities

  • You analyse historical data and perform statistical assessments to forecast capacity needs for CH4, H2 and CO₂
  • You develop and model supply-demand scenarios up to 2050 using market inputs, energy plans, studies, and stakeholder collaboration
  • You simulate network flows toidentifybottlenecks, congestion risks, and capacity constraints. You formulate recommendations for network investments and optimisations, including the repurposing of existing infrastructure for new gases. You translate analyses into clear insights and actionable recommendations
  • You coordinate with adjacent transmission system operators and contribute to cross-border alignment and projects
  • You activelyparticipatein ENTSOG working groups and research initiatives related to the energy transition
  • You support internal and external stakeholders on capacity-related topics, including affiliates and regulatory aspects. You prepare and deliver concise, well-structured presentations withappropriate visualisations

About you

  • You hold an engineering degree
  • You demonstratestrong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • You have a strong interest in energy-related topics
  • You are skilled in data visualization tools (Excel, Power BI), and knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python) is recommended
  • You have experience in statistics, AI prediction models, and data analysis, which is considered an asset
  • Youare able towork independently and have strong organisational skills, allowing you to manage project priorities and schedules effectively
  • You can build a clear and didactical big picture from complex analyses for non-experts.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • You are a team player, able to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
