ThoughtLabs Belgium is seeking an experienced, highly technical, and accomplished Senior Angular Developer to join a flagship public sector project for the European Parliament in Brussels on a lucrative contract basis (€520/day). In this specialized frontend and full-stack engineering role, you will spearhead designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-performance web applications utilizing expert-level Angular frameworks and rigorous software testing methodologies. You will work closely with European public sector stakeholders, enterprise architects, and cross-functional software squads to deliver secure, accessible, and scalable digital solutions. Ideal candidates bring a Master’s degree with 8+ years of professional experience (or Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience), deep practical mastery of TypeScript, modern web standards, and immediate availability for hybrid deployment in Brussels.
Detailed Job Description:
As a Senior Angular Developer at ThoughtLabs Belgium in Brussels, you will take full ownership of frontend architecture, component-driven UI development, automated unit/integration testing, and European public sector portal integration. Your day-to-day responsibilities encompass engineering modular Angular applications, executing rigorous software quality assurance, collaborating with backend teams on Java / Spring Boot microservices integration, and ensuring strict compliance with EU web accessibility (WCAG) and security guidelines. You will participate actively in sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous delivery workflows. Working in a fast-paced public sector consulting environment in Brussels, you will drive technical excellence, application reliability, and mission-critical success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade web applications utilizing expert-level Angular frameworks and TypeScript.
- Spearhead component architecture, state management, reactive programming with RxJS, and responsive UI engineering.
- Execute rigorous software testing, unit testing (Jasmine/Karma/Jest), and end-to-end testing (Cypress/Playwright) for European Parliament applications.
- Integrate frontend Angular components with robust backend services, REST APIs, and Java / Spring Boot microservices.
- Ensure strict adherence to European public sector web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and cybersecurity compliance baselines.
- Collaborate proactively with enterprise architects, product owners, QA specialists, and EU institutional stakeholders in Brussels.
- Optimize client-side application performance, bundle sizes, network payload efficiency, and rendering speeds.
- Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior frontend engineers.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, architecture blueprints, and automated test coverage reports.
- Ensure timely delivery of milestone deliverables under high-profile public sector contract terms (€520/day rate).
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Academic Degree Requirement: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or IT with minimum 8+ years of professional software engineering experience OR Bachelor’s degree with minimum 12+ years of professional experience.
- Expert-level technical proficiency and hands-on operational mastery of Angular (Angular 14+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3/Sass.
- Solid professional background and proven expertise in Software Testing, QA methodologies, and test automation.
- Extensive practical experience building responsive, enterprise-scale single-page applications (SPAs).
- Strong understanding of RESTful API integration, asynchronous programming, and state management frameworks (NgRx/Akita).
- Proven ability to work in a hybrid/onsite project delivery model based in Brussels.

- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Multilingual proficiency in English and French or Dutch.
