Employment: Full-time/Permanent
I'm currently recruiting for a Computer Vision Researcher to join an R&D team operating within the maritime sector.
This is an opportunity to work on challenging technical problems, explore new technologies and contribute to the development of innovative vision-based solutions in an industrial research environment.
The role offers the chance to work on research-driven projects where computer vision, image processing and advanced algorithms play an important part.
For candidates interested in academic research alongside industry, there may also be an opportunity to pursue an industrial PhD while working on practical applications.
Your Responsibilities:
- Researching and developing computer vision algorithms for real-world applications.
- Developing and evaluating deep learning models for image analysis and visual recognition.
- Applying classical computer vision and image processing techniques to solve complex technical challenges.
- Exploring signal processing methods and mathematical approaches to improve algorithm performance.
- Prototyping, testing and validating new concepts within an R&D environment.
- Collaborating with fellow researchers and engineers to translate research findings into practical industrial solutions.
- Keeping up to date with developments in computer vision, machine learning and related technologies.
We're interested in candidates with a strong technical foundation in computer vision or a related discipline. This could come from academic research, a Master's degree, a PhD or relevant industrial experience.
Relevant technical backgrounds include:
- Deep Learning & AI: PyTorch, TensorFlow, neural networks and deep learning frameworks.
- Classical Computer Vision: C++, OpenCV, image processing and computer vision algorithms.
- Signal & Image Processing: Image analysis, signal processing techniques and algorithm development.
- Mathematics: Strong analytical skills, mathematical modelling, statistics or numerical methods.
- Physics: A background in physics with an interest in applying theoretical knowledge to vision-related challenges.
What Makes This Opportunity Interesting?
- Work on technically challenging R&D projects within the maritime sector.
- Apply theoretical knowledge and research to real-world industrial applications.
- Explore new approaches to computer vision, deep learning and image processing.
- Collaborate with technically focused colleagues in an environment that values research and innovation.
- Potentially combine an industrial R&D career with pursuing a PhD.
If you have a background in computer vision, deep learning, image processing, mathematics or physics and are looking for an opportunity to develop your expertise in an industrial research environment, I'd be keen to hear from you.
