Key Responsibilities

Execute assigned calibration work packages using dedicated equipment and following established methods and procedures.
Adjust and validate control parameters related to:
Clutch control.
Torque coordination between engine and transmission.
Gearshift timing and quality.
Define and carry out test plans to calibrate and validate eDCT/TCU functions under various operating conditions on:
Transmission test benches.
Vehicles (road and proving ground testing).
Perform objective and subjective drivability and shift quality evaluations, supported by data acquisition and specific drivability assessment tools.
Analyze measurement data, identify root causes of issues (e.g. harsh shifts, oscillations, delays), and propose calibration improvements.
Manage calibration datasets for the software modules under your responsibility, ensuring consistency, traceability, and proper documentation.
Work closely with engine calibration teams to ensure coherent torque and shift coordination across the full powertrain.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (controls, software, testing, systems engineering) to resolve technical challenges and align on calibration strategies.
Interact with internal and external stakeholders (customers, service providers, colleagues at different sites) to share results and best practices.
Prepare clear reports and presentations summarizing test results, calibration status, and recommendations.

You will be particularly involved in:

Drivability and vehicle dynamic behavior (tip-in/tip-out, launch, low-speed maneuvers).
Shift quality (smoothness, speed, consistency of gear changes).
Torque control and coordination between engine, motor (for electrified systems), and transmission.
Optimization of drivability and shift quality using dedicated tools and methodologies.

Profile & Requirements

Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Automotive or Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field, with a strong interest in automotive and powertrain systems.

4–8 years of experience as a powertrain calibration and/or controls engineer.

Proven experience in at least some of the following:

Drivability calibration.
Shift quality calibration.
Torque control and coordination.
Clutch control.

Solid understanding of powertrain dynamics and vehicle behavior.

Hands-on experience with ETAS INCA for calibration and measurement.

Experience in transmission calibration.

Experience in engine calibration and torque-related functions.

Good knowledge of block diagrams and model-based development (Matlab/Simulink).

Experience with other calibration and data acquisition tools, such as:

Vector CANape.
AVL DRIVE (drivability and shift quality assessment).
AVL CAMEO, AVL SPA (advanced optimization/calibration).
AVL CRETA (dataset management).

Knowledge of e-Drive systems and electrified powertrains.

Programming skills in:

C / C++.
Python.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (written and spoken); other languages are a plus.

Comfortable working in an international, multi-site environment and collaborating with diverse teams.

Other Requirements

Valid EU category B driver’s license (mandatory, for vehicle testing).
Willingness to travel occasionally abroad and to work mainly in Sint-Truiden.
