Limburg, Belgique AvioBook Temps plein 75 000 € - 110 000 €/an

AvioBook is a global leader in cutting-edge software and unique hardware for the aviation industry. We revolutionised the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) market with a product designed by pilots, for pilots. Today, we keep building smart, user-centric solutions that make airlines more efficient and simplify work for flight crews and operational teams.

For our HQ in Hasselt, we're looking for an experienced Data & AI Engineer who wants to build something from the ground up. Airlines worldwide use AvioBook every flight day, and every flight generates operational data. Turning that data into reliable, governed and AI-ready assets will power the next generation of intelligence in our products.

Your role

As our Data & AI Engineer, you own AvioBook's data foundation. Reporting to the CTO, you turn operational aviation data into the pipelines, models and datasets that power our AI products.

You'll tackle challenges such as:

  • Designing and building a data lake using a medallion architecture
  • Setting up end-to-end data governance: access control, lineage, cataloging, quality and retention
  • Building, training and evaluating predictive ML models for operational aviation use cases
  • Preparing datasets for RAG architectures, AI agents and LLM fine-tuning
  • Ensuring data is managed according to policy and industry expectations

As a founding engineer for data and AI, you set the architectural standards. You remain responsible for the quality and reliability of the data and models that our products and customers depend on.

How you'll work

You'll collaborate closely with Product Engineering, Operations and the teams managing data ingestion to understand their data and use cases and to ensure data reliability at the source. Together with our Compliance team, you make sure our data is governed the right way.

You'll package and hand off trained models to production, and work with Product Engineering to get them implemented and serving our customers.

YOU

  • Have proven experience owning data governance in a modern data lake or lakehouse, ideally Databricks (Unity Catalog, Delta Lake)
  • Have hands-on experience designing and building medallion-architecture pipelines, including schema design and automated data quality and validation
  • Have experience building, training, evaluating and packaging predictive ML models used in production
  • Have experience preparing datasets for GenAI use cases such as RAG and AI agents
  • Have strong Python and SQL skills and are comfortable in a cloud data platform environment

  • Communicate well across teams and departments, including non-technical stakeholders
  • Proactively solve problems, identify risks and improve processes
