Position
To maintain and take good care of the customers’ fleet in accordance with the highest standards, and with focus on safety, reliability and on-time performance.
The Engineer Team Leader supervises aircraft maintenance engineers and mechanics and ensures all technical work meets aviation safety standards and regulatory compliance. They coordinate engineering activities, review maintenance procedures, and provide technical guidance to resolve complex aircraft defects and troubleshooting challenges. The role involves managing workload distribution, monitoring project timelines, and ensuring quality control throughout engineering processes.
Main Tasks And Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- At the start of the shift, receive daily objectives and priorities from the Maintenance Duty Manager. Analyse the work to be done and allocates it as effectively as possible according to the skills available.
- Be hierarchically responsible for the people reporting to him/her during duties. Manage his/her team and ensure that discipline is maintained and addressed when needed.
- Communicate and mobilise the team during 5-15-minute team meetings (work cards, priorities, training, procedures, important messages, etc.).
- Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the assigned maintenance team.
- Allocate tasks according to operational priorities, competencies, authorisations and workload.
- Be responsible for ensuring that daily site tasks are completed on time: he/she reports to the Duty Manager any difficulties encountered in carrying out tasks and justifies any discrepancies between the time allocated and the time actually spent.
- Work on the aircraft himself when his team is working productively.
- Ensure that reports are drawn up in accordance with the procedures in force.
- Ensure maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved maintenance data.
- Monitor progress, identify constraints and elevate issues that may impact aircraft availability, quality or delivery.
- Ensure effective shift handovers and communication of outstanding maintenance activities.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues within the team's scope of responsibility.
Safety, Compliance & Airworthiness
- Ensure team members comply with EASA Part-145 requirements, company procedures and applicable maintenance standards.
- Ensure personnel work within their qualifications, licences, authorisations and competency levels.
- Verify that maintenance documentation and technical records are correctly completed.
- Promote a strong safety and reporting culture within the team.
- Identify and elevate safety, quality and compliance risks.
- Support audits, investigations and the implementation of corrective actions.
Team Leadership & People Development
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to team members.
- Act as a role model for professional conduct, safety awareness and company values.
- Promote teamwork, accounta
