This engineering assignment is concerned with the route from vehicle design to repeatable body-assembly manufacturing. The post holder will test whether design data can meet Toyota manufacturing standards, then work across production and equipment considerations to shape feasible solutions. Alongside established welding-process work, the role examines new technologies and digital applications that may improve factory workflows. It combines detailed technical information with practical factory collaboration during the preparation of new vehicle and production concepts for mass production.
Responsibilities
- Convert vehicle styling and design expectations into manufacturing concepts that are practical, high quality and capable of scaling.
- Examine design data against Toyota manufacturing standards and identify the resulting effects on the production process.
- Work with Production and Equipment teams to assess process feasibility and develop possible improvements.
- Shape improvement proposals with due regard for safety, quality, cost, investment and productivity.
- Use benchmarking and best-practice analysis to find opportunities for cost reduction and process optimisation.
- Lead process-improvement and equipment-design work through 3D models, simulation tools, 2D drawings and bills of materials.
- Investigate and introduce manufacturing technologies, digital tools, automation and virtual-reality applications that improve workflows and support the factory of the future.
- Help prepare new vehicle and production concepts for transition to mass production.
- Undertake a minimum two-year assignment at a Toyota factory in France or the UK shortly after starting, including occasional weekend work for critical milestones.

- Experience with CATIA V5, Process Simulate (PSR), AutoCAD or comparable engineering or manufacturing tools is required, together with strong Microsoft Excel capability.
- The role requires the ability to manage technical data, including 3D models, drawings, process documentation and production records.
- A proactive, practical approach, strong communication and problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently and in multicultural teams are required.
- Applicants must be open to international assignments, relocation and occasional weekend work outside Belgium.
- Preferred: Knowledge of French is an asset.
