Sensory Analyst

About the role

We are looking for a Sensory Analyst to join our R&D team as a Consultant and play a key role in the design, execution, and analysis of sensory studies supporting innovation, product development, and business decisions across the beverage portfolio of our client.

This is a highly hands-on position, focused on the organization and execution of sensory tasting activities. You will be responsible for managing sensory studies from preparation through data analysis and reporting, ensuring high-quality and actionable insights are delivered to stakeholders.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and execute sensory research projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Plan, organize and moderate sensory tasting sessions across multiple beverage categories.
  • Prepare sensory studies, including sample coding, randomization, test design, and sample preparation according to established SOPs.
  • Manage internal sensory panels, including recruitment, training, engagement, attendance, and panel performance monitoring.
  • Coordinate sensory testing activities with external agencies, R&D centers, and business partners.
  • Conduct discrimination and descriptive sensory tests such as Triangle Tests, Degree of Difference, and other sensory methodologies.
  • Analyze sensory and consumer data using appropriate statistical methods.
  • Translate results into clear reports, recommendations, and business insights.
  • Maintain the sensory laboratory, including equipment, software, inventory, and laboratory best practices.
  • Stay informed about emerging sensory methodologies, technologies, consumer trends, and competitive activities.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for:

  • Degree in Sensory Science, Food Science, Consumer Science, Statistics, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience working in a sensory laboratory, food & beverage, consumer research, or R&D environment.
  • Hands-on experience organizing and running sensory tasting sessions.
  • Knowledge of sensory methodologies, including:
  • Discrimination tests (Triangle, Duo-Trio, Degree of Difference, etc.)
  • Descriptive sensory analysis
  • Consumer and preference testing
  • Understanding of sensory best practices, including sample presentation, randomization, and moderation of tasting sessions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret sensory data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
