This is a varied, hands‑on role, where you’ll be responsible for:

You’ll enjoy adapting your message to different audiences, and have a genuine interest in farm animal welfare, food and environmental issues.
You’ll need to be a thoughtful, collaborative colleague who treats people with dignity and respect, works sensitively across cultures and takes pride in high ethical standards. Comfortable working independently as well as with others, you’ll balance communications projects with practical office tasks and follow through on your commitments.
Skills and experience you’ll need to bring as our EU Communications Officer:
- Fluent English, excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong news sense, and experience creating effective communications materials for a range of audiences, particularly for the Brussels bubble.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritise your workload, use your initiative and take responsibility for projects and operational tasks.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and internet tools, plus experience with, or a willingness to learn, Canva, InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Previous experience with Brussels media or institutions, journalist contacts, campaigning knowledge and insight into EU political processes is essential. Event or webinar coordination, working in international teams, and additional European languages would be welcome.

This is an opportunity to put your communications skills to work for a cause that matters, helping build a more compassionate future for farmed animals through our work in Brussels.
You’ll get to collaborate with colleagues across our international organisation and contribute to campaigns connecting animal welfare with the future of food and farming.

Founded in 1967 by British farmer Peter Roberts, we’ve spent over 50 years driving change, successfully campaigning to ban cruel practices such as barren battery cages, veal crates, and sow stalls across the UK and Europe.
Our work combines advocacy, campaigning, and collaboration with policymakers and businesses to promote animal welfare and sustainable food systems.
