As a Senior Hands-On Hardware Engineer at Dekimo Louvain-la-Neuve, you will play a key role in the design, development, and long-term maintenance of embedded systems and digital hardware products.

This role is intended for a passionate electronics engineer with strong practical experience who enjoys working close to the hardware – from schematics and FPGA code to PCB bring-up and production support.

Job Description

Your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing complete electronic systems from requirements to prototype and production.
  • Architecting, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining FPGA and CPLD designs (VHDL/Verilog).
  • Designing and reviewing PCB schematics, selecting components, and supporting board bring-up and debugging.
  • Actively participating in hardware validation and debugging using lab equipment.
  • Managing product lifecycles, including digital logic obsolescence, component replacement, and redesigns.
  • Collaborating closely with hardware, software, and test engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Contributing to and leading design reviews, proposing pragmatic improvements, and ensuring designs follow industry best practices.
  • Taking technical ownership and contributing to robust, maintainable, real-world products.

Profile

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in electronics and hardware design.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong, proven expertise in:
  • FPGA and CPLD development (VHDL/Verilog, synthesis, simulation, timing analysis)
  • Digital and analog electronics
  • PCB-level hardware design and debugging
  • Experience with microcontrollers, standard communication interfaces (SPI, I²C, UART, Ethernet, etc.), and debugging tools.
  • Experience managing product obsolescence, redesigns, and long-term support.
  • A passion for electronics and a hands-on, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player.
  • Good communication skills in English and/or French.
  • Bonus:
  • Experience with embedded software development (bare-metal or RTOS).
  • Experience with Embedded Linux (board bring-up, drivers, or system integration).
  • Experience working in a small, agile engineering team.
  • Interest in mentoring or acting as a technical reference.
  • Personal or side projects in electronics.
